THE RHYTHM OF HOOP dance fills Museum Hill August 1–2 during the 5th Annual Youth Hoop Dance Championship at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe. Hosted by the Lightning Boy Foundation, the free event brings together Native youth dancers, in divisions from Tiny Tot to Collegiate, to share their individual interpretations of hoop dance in a supportive, community-centered setting. Beginning each morning with a grand entry of dancers, the championship celebrates cultural expression while inviting visitors to learn more about Native traditions, artistry, and the next generation carrying them forward.
