The view from a barstool at the Bosque North Brewery and Taproom, which opened in Bernalillo in July, is stunning. Just beyond the adjacent Río Grande Bosque, floor-to-ceiling windows frame the craggy Sandía Mountains. It’s an ideal spot to drink one of Bosque’s seasonal brews, like the Open Space Haze, a cloudy, New England–style IPA, and enjoy a basket of green chile cheese fries with bacon from the food-truck-inspired kitchen. A wraparound patio has plenty of outdoor space, and when the main level gets busy, a second floor has its own bar.
The location, an easy stop off I-25 between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, will soon have a new walking path along the river, as well as a host of new restaurants across the street from the brewery, though they will likely pale in size next to Bosque North. The Jackalope building, formerly a housewares emporium, is massive, at 15,000 square feet. It’s home to most of Bosque’s production now, including a 30-barrel brewing system and a canning line. The brewery, which originally opened in 2012, also has two locations in Albuquerque, as well as one in Las Cruces.
