There was a time, not long ago, when most Americans had a connection to the country. The family farm was a place to gather, to work, and to come home to. Most people understood the toil and dedication that put their food on the table. Bringing back this kinship with the land and animals is just one of Thomas and Amanda Dollahite’s goals with their new café, Europa Coffee, located on their family’s Peculiar Farms,  in Los Lunas.

Nestled in a renovated barn, Europa Coffee oozes rustic charm and Old World elegance.

Surrounded by flowers and fresh produce, guests enjoy the feeling of brunching in the European countryside, with a worldly menu that brings it all to life. The café overlooks the working farm, which adds eggs, vegetables, and beef to the menu.

And where there are great ingredients, great food follows. Excellent coffees and teas pair with from-scratch meals such as Niçoise salad, apricot-and-Dijon-glazed ham, seafood crepes, Swedish meatballs, sandwiches, and charcuterie. And don’t forget a pastry or gelato to round it all out.

Bring the kids. They can engage with the animals and learn more about agriculture. Parents of two little farmers themselves, the Dollahites also host craft nights and other kid-friendly events. Open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, Europa is an idyllic location to while away an afternoon, host a wedding, or pick up a picnic to go.
