Shaffer Hotel
Mountainair’s Shaffer Hotel, one of the state’s few remaining Pueblo Deco structures, is decorated inside and out with Native art patterns and whimsical outdoor rock mosaics by original owner Clem “Pop” Shaffer. La Galería, adjacent to the lobby, devotes its space to local artists to show and sell their works.
Don’t miss: Look for a bullet hole in the lobby’s ceiling behind the staircase, the result of a domestic row.
