"A beam of light helps illuminate an underground kiva near the main pueblo adobe structure at Pecos National Historical Park, in Pecos, New Mexico. Last spring I went on an adobe tour of the entire state—as far as Covid restrictions would allow me to go. It took me to Pecos in late March. As I walked around the kiva, I turned around to find a brilliant beam of light striking the floor that illuminated the brick walls in a dazzling orange glow. I had my back up against the wall and my camera against my chest to properly crop the image."

Sean Horner Skiing Highline Ridge on a Perfect Bluebird Day, Michael Hawkins

"After an overnight snowfall, Sean Horner and I headed up to Taos Ski Valley to get a few runs in. We rode two lifts, then hiked up to Highline Ridge and were shocked to see over 6 feet of snow—much more than at the base. I always have my camera with me, especially when skiing with the former UNM Lobo ski racer. We knew the cloudless sky and untouched snow could make for a good photo, so I skied down, careful not to disturb the snow where Sean would descend. I pulled my camera out and let out a loud 'WHOOP.' Sean straight-lined his descent to gather speed and began his turn just above me, and I fired a burst of shots as he ripped past. He stopped several hundred feet below and shouted back, 'How'd that turn out?' With powder still swirling overhead and gathering on my jacket, I yelled back, 'That might be the best ski photo I've ever taken!'"
