MOST PEOPLE LOVE MASSAGES. Having someone pour their energy into overworked shoulders and tired feet can be a cherished treat. But in recent years, I’ve come to appreciate the more focused relaxation of a facial—lying in a quiet treatment room, listening to the chuffing of the steam machine, and breathing in its warm, moist air while someone with baby-soft hands massages mysterious, cool creams onto my face.
The spa offers several facial options, including the Healing Stone Facial, in which warm and chilled stones are used to massage skin, the deluxe 80-minute Hacienda Facial, and a tailored-to-your-skin Classic Facial. The 50-minute Seasonal Facial always includes botanicals from the farm, depending on your skin’s seasonal requirements. In late summer, the highlight was a lavender-honey mask made with a few dollops of golden syrup produced by the farm’s own honeybees. Fall treatments include a mask made with papaya and pumpkin.
