LEAF PEEPERS DON'T HAVE TO hit the high country or even leave the city to spot fall colors. Joran Viers says park hoppers can find bright red ornamental pears and peach-to-burgundy Chinese pistaches and Raywood ashes throughout town. A few of his faves are Rotary Park, near Ventura Street and Paseo del Norte; Montgomery Park, near San Mateo and Montgomery boulevards; and Mesa Verde Park, at Pennsylvania Street and Marquette Avenue, in the International District. “That park has the biggest Raywood ash I’ve seen in town,” he says.
