WHO ARE THE COWBOYS?

“We get some of the top-ranked cowboys in the world,” he says. “One of the big reasons is, not only just the money that we offer here, but we’re one of the final stops before the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.”

HOW ARE THESE EVENTS JUDGED?

“They have very specific rules and scoring systems, whether it’s a timed event or a rough stock event,” he says. “Our rodeo announcer, Doug Mathis, does an amazing job of explaining why that ride was a 75-point ride compared to a 90-point ride. It gets very specific. Remember, ours is a PRCA rodeo.”

IS THE RODEO FAMILY-FRIENDLY?

“Our rodeos have become so popular that we’ve added a third stand-alone rodeo this year,” he says. “I cannot think of a more family-friendly event at the fair. The sport has really had a resurgence in New Mexico. We’re proud to host it.”
