COOKIE CRUMBLED
In December, New York Times food columnist LISA DONOVAN created a stir with her bizcochitos recipe. The writer discovered our state cookie at a gas station “somewhere in New Mexico” during a road trip. Although Donovan correctly identified the beloved cookies’ components, she reimagined them in her recipe, swapping out the lard for butter and part of the flour for cornmeal. Many online commenters maligned these “inauthentic” bizcochitos and suggested the cookies go by another name. Maybe miss-cochitos?

DRONE REZONE
SUZANNE KLUMP had a broken drone, so she called the manufacturer for advice. “Just send it to the closest repair place,” the agent said. “Where do you live?” When Klump replied, “Albuquerque, New Mexico,” the agent reconsidered. “You might want to return to the country before trying to send it in.” Seems like their sense of direction could use a lift.

WARM WELCOME
New Mexico Tourism Department employee ELIZABETH GALLEGOS received an email from a prospective tourist who was concerned about her H1-B visa credentials. “Can I visit New Mexico and return to Virginia, USA, without any port of entry issues?” she asked. “You shouldn’t have an issue,” Gallegos replied. “Our state is part of the USA. But I recommend obeying all driving laws to avoid any problems.”

SNOW BLIND
An ABC News web story on wayward Colorado weather recently caught the eye of DAN JENSEN. “Vehicles travel in downtown Pueblo, NM, as snow flies,” the caption read. That must have been quite a storm!
