ET TU, FARMINGTON?
MICHAEL PADILLA says he could write a book about his “One of Our 50” experiences. A recent entry includes his payment being denied at an AutoZone in Farmington. “I tried to pay with a check from a local bank,” he says, “but the receptionist said they didn’t take out-of-country checks!” We expect this from others, but not from our own!

SUBPAR EXPERIENCE
Dewey, Oklahoma, resident NATALIE EPPS was grabbing dinner at her local Subway restaurant when she and the sandwich artist began making small talk about travel. “I love to travel in New Mexico,” Epps said. “I’m trying to get a passport so I can go there,” the employee replied enthusiastically. “No, I’m talking about NEW Mexico,” Epps clarified. He looked at her funny and asked, “Is that in Texas?” 

NO CAP
In March, MARSHA THOM of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque was catching up on world affairs when a confusing headline in Newsweek magazine caused a double take. “Donald Trump Announces a New Mexico Tariff Deal,” it read. “It’s a great example of the importance of the rules of capitalization!” she says.

MEDICAL MISHAP
A recent Travel + Leisure article on the best places to retire rightly singled out Las Vegas, New Mexico, for its affordability, outdoor recreation, and rich history. However, the story also claimed that Las Vegas is a “good spot for anyone with health concerns” since there are “33 hospitals” in San Miguel County. The county has one actual hospital, but if you count the veterinary clinics and some well-stocked first-aid kits at gas stations, they might be close. We suspect another Las Vegas might be missing.
